Introducing Byzantium and Gaul in Civilization VI

Expand your empire with the addition of Byzantium led by Basil II and Gaul led by Ambiorix in Civilization VI. This content pack brings two unique civilizations, each with its own strengths and abilities.

Byzantium:

Civ Unique Ability - "Taxis": Units gain additional Combat Strength or Religious Strength for each Holy City converted to Byzantium's Religion. The spread of Byzantium's Religion is accelerated when an enemy unit is defeated, and cities with Holy Sites earn bonus Great Prophet points.

Leader Unique Ability - "PorphyrogénnÄ“tos": Heavy and Light Cavalry units deal full damage against cities following Byzantium's Religion. Basil gains the Tagma unique unit when the Divine Right civic is discovered.

Unique Units: Byzantium features two unique units, the Dromon (replacing the Quadrireme) and the Tagma (replacing the Knight).

Unique District - Hippodrome: Replaces the Entertainment Complex district, costs less to build, and provides additional Amenities. It grants a Heavy Cavalry unit when the Hippodrome and its buildings are constructed.

Gaul:

Civ Unique Ability - "Hallstatt Culture": Mines provide a minor adjacency bonus for all districts, Culture Bomb unowned territory, and grant additional Culture. Specialty districts cannot be built next to the City Center and do not receive adjacency from other districts.

Leader Unique Ability - "King of the Eburones": Ambiorix’s civilization gains additional Culture based on unit cost when a non-civilian unit is trained. Melee, anti-cavalry, and ranged units receive bonus Combat Strength for every adjacent combat unit.

Unique Unit - Gaesatae: Replaces the Warrior and gains additional Combat Strength when fighting stronger units and district defenses.

Unique District - Oppidum: Cheaper and available earlier than the Industrial Zone, unlocks the Apprenticeship technology when constructed, offers its own ranged attack, and receives a major adjacency bonus from Quarries and strategic resources.

New "Dramatic Ages" Game Mode:

All civilizations enter a Dark Age or a Golden Age in every new era, eliminating Normal Ages. Special Social Policies replace Dedications. Entering a Golden Age with extra Era Score increases Loyalty pressure on nearby civilizations. Dark Ages can lead to cities rebelling. Era Score can be earned by completing Technologies, Civics, and promoting units through combat.

New World Wonders:

Biosphere: Increases Appeal from all Marsh and Rainforest tiles. Offers various benefits depending on the ruleset. Statue of Zeus: Grants free military units to the controlling city and boosts Production towards anti-cavalry units.

New Map Script:

Highlands: A large region filled with hills and mountain ranges.
