In this immersive mystery horror story set during Chongzhen s Reign (A.D. 1628-1644), you step into a world fraught with domestic turmoil, foreign invasions, and the chilling effects of the Little Ice Age. The Ming dynasty is collapsing under the weight of disastrous policies, mass starvation, and rampant rebellions. Against this backdrop of chaos and suffering, Liang the bandit and his companion embark on a perilous journey that gradually unravels dark secrets of their time.
Liang and his partner are hired by a shady merchant to escort four young girls to a wealthy lord in Luoyang, passing through the dangerous territories of Huazhou, Wenxiang, and Shanzhou along the way. Liang is led to believe that these girls are destined to become the lord s adopted daughters, offered the chance to live in luxury.
However, as they travel, one of the girls named Sui discloses a horrifying truth: the lord they are delivering the girls to is, in fact, a swine demon who has survived for over a thousand years by feasting on young women. Every year on his birthday, he sends human traffickers to abduct girls for his gruesome feast, and Sui s sister was one of his recent victims. Sui begs Liang to abandon the mission and join her in assassinating the demon to avenge her sister and save others.
