Caltrain’s modern, efficient, and flashy “MPXpress” diesels have been operating on Baby Bullet services since 2003, and now you can experience them firsthand in Train Sim World 2!

The MPXpress, a diesel locomotive that combines style and power, packs 3,600 horsepower and meets stringent crashworthiness standards. The MP36PH-3C variant stretches to 70 feet in length, stands 15.5 feet tall, and weighs over 280,000 pounds, yet it exudes a sleek, European-style visual appeal.

Introduced in 2002, the MPXpress line quickly became the standard for commuter motive power in North America. Caltrain ordered six MP36PH-3C variants for its new “Baby Bullet” express commuter services. Sporting a red, white, and black livery with road numbers 923-928, these locomotives entered service in 2003 and have been operating on the Peninsula for nearly two decades.

In Train Sim World 2, the MP36PH-3C debuts on the Peninsula Corridor, paired with Bi-Level commuter equipment ideal for express services through the Bay Area. Race southbound from the futuristic cab of the MP36, and be pushed on the return journey to San Francisco from the immersive Cab Car.
